iPhone 6 Latest - News and Rumors about the New iPhone!!!

Apple just wanted their iPhone shipments to be delayed?

Is apple really in short supply of the new iPhone 5 devices or it is just a marketing thing by apple? I mean seriously! It doesn’t take a CEO to forecast the demand based on previous sales history of similar devices.

Take the example of iPhone 4S. Apple knows that they sold 4 million of those devices during the first weekend after it was released. So if you were Tim Cook, wouldn’t you expect the iPhone 5 to sell AT LEAST more than 4 million units during the first weekend? If it was me, I would even go further and project the numbers and predict the demand based on historical data.

But see what happened. Apple announced that they sold 5 million iPhone 5 units in the first weekend after release (only about 25% more than its predecessor). But they still couldn’t meet that demand? Forget about 5 million. They couldn’t even meet the demand of the 4 million mark (same as iPhone 4s). Seriously? That kind of bad planners work at Apple?

But I don’t think it is bad planning at all. I think apple is too smart to figure out that purposely creating this “Artificial Shortage” will get more media and public attention. This in turn is a huge advantage for them. Think about this, Wouldn’t you get reminded of the new iPhone release if you saw a news item on TV that shows people lined up to get an iPhone 5 at one of your neighborhood stores? Definitely! And this in turn creates a viral effect and eventually make more people wanting that device.

I think apple is trying to maximize the demand by maximizing the popularity of its already popular devices by creating this “Artificial Shortages”. But they will ship those devices eventually to cash the hype into real dollars.
